With more than 650 dedicated professionals, we are responsible for covering a service area of more than 1,700 square miles and a population of half a million.

SWORN JOBS

Few careers offer the variety of challenges you’ll find with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. You’ll find unique patrolling options in our Law Enforcement Division with the Marine and Helicopter Units or as a Resident Deputy. With our numerous specialty assignments, you can pursue a career as a detective, become a member of our Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.) or Bomb Squad, just to name a few career paths. Our Detention Division also offers careers with our Specialized Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T) or our Inmate Classification Specialty Unit. CORRECTIONAL DEPUTY I

Start your career in corrections law enforcement as a Correctional Deputy I. The County of Sonoma’s New Generation/Direct Supervision Jail Facility has replaced the harsh environment of the traditional jail style. As a result, the Sheriff’s Office is eager to recruit and develop professional correctional staff who have exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise a solid management-style approach to working with inmates. The most successful and qualified Correctional Deputy candidates are those who demonstrate excellent communication skills and can maintain patience and professionalism in times of emergency.
